Travel

The Tartu airport offers flights to and from Helsinki. If you are arriving by airplane from outside of Estonia your best bet is almost certainly to fly to Tallinn and then take the bus to Tartu from the airport. It is also possible to take a ferry to Tallinn from Helsinki (~2.5 hours), and from Stockholm (overnight).

There are frequent buses from Tallinn (and from the Tallinn airport) to Tartu, departing every 30 minutes or so during the day. The bus trip from Tallinn to Tartu takes around 2.5 hours. Bus tickets must be purchased in advance from e.g., here. Your destination should be "Tartu Coach Station", which is a short walk from central Tartu and from the conference venue.

NB: If you are taking the bus from the Tallinn airport, be sure to select "Tallinn Airport" as your point of departure, not "Tallinn Coach Station". Otherwise you may be considered to have missed the bus, and your seat may be sold to someone else.

It is also possible to take the train from Tallinn to Tartu, although be advised that there is no train station at the Tallinn airport, that the Tartu train station is significantly further away from the city centre than the bus station, and that the train journey takes approximately the same amount of time as the bus.

Accommodation

Tartu contains a variety of accommodation options. For example, the following are within a 20 minute walk of the conference venue:
