"Algebra and its applications" is a series of annual workshops
which brings together mathematicians and students from Estonia and other
countries (Latvia, Finland etc.) who are interested in algebra
or using algebra in their research. Since 2001, the workshops have taken
place mainly in Estonia, but twice also in Latvia; they have been
organised by the algebraists of Tartu, Tallinn, Riga and Daugavpils.
This series is a continuation of the series of algebra seminars
held at Kääriku (near Otepää) in 1970s and 1980s. Those seminars
brought together algebraists from the whole Soviet Union.
